A Glimpse of VLSI technology – How it has changed semiconductor industry?

It is a common fact that Very-large-scale integration (VLSI) has become an inseparable side of all industry segments, and emerged as the most popular and intrinsic part of semiconductor industries, as it has played a major role in making our lives simple and efficient.

According to experts, VLSI occupies the largest portion in Indian semiconductor design industry. Though VLSI in Bangalore is huge, Noida occupies the largest portion electronic design automation (EDA) in India.

According to Market researcher Gartner’s report, India’s semiconductor industry has grown significantly to touch $8 billion in 2012, an increase of a 7.4 percent compared to 2011. This trend was observed when semiconductor chip market all across the globe had hit a slowdown in 2012.

The trend will continue to look upwards in 2013 and may touch a figure which may be 20% greater than 2012.

What is VLSI?

The name Very-large-scale integration explains about itself. It is a technique of incorporating functionality of a variety of components in a chip.

Various advantages of VLSI are:

1. It allows to shrink the size of the device
2. Empowers device with a host of functionalities
3. Reduce power consumption and cost
4. Increases operation speed of the device
5. Requires less testing: Since functionality of many components or ICs are cramped into a small device using VLSI technology, there is no need to test individual component or IC. This saves considerable time.
6. Unlike a device with many ICs and components where even if one component fails, the whole device stops working, using functionality of many components or ICs in a single chip ensures the device remains robust and does not wear off quickly for a long time.

Since the growth pattern for VLSI industry looks bright and ever increasing in the coming years, many It professionals and fresh graduates are enrolling for VLSI training & certification, where different software tools such as VHDL, EDA is used to design chips and ICs. This trend has recently found momentum as India’s semiconductor industry is doing well. Since VLSI by itself is a big sector, there are many training programs available within it by different names by different  VLSI Designing training institutes in Noida such as VLSI Design and Verification Training, VLSI Designing Training Courses, VLSI Chip designing training etc.

Putting finishing touch:

VLSI technology is playing a dominant role in the progress of semiconductor industry. This has prompted many individuals to get VLSI training & certification. However without comprehensive understanding about VLSI technology, any semiconductor company may not show interest in the candidate. Hence it is very essential for candidates to seek a reputed VLSI training institute, in Noida while enrolling for VLSI training & certification program so that they can have a thorough understanding of VLSI technology.
